Kenton County Parole and Probation
Parole and probation can both place a person under KDOC field supervision, but they do not describe the same event. Parole follows a prison sentence after the Kentucky Parole Board authorizes conditional release. Probation is imposed by a court instead of, or after suspension of, confinement. KOOL may display either status, along with the supervising office and the supervision begin and end dates.
| Record label | How it begins | What verifies it |
|---|---|---|
| Parole | A Parole Board action followed by actual release from an institution | KOOL supervision status, parole history, and KDOC record |
| Probation (Regular) | A court judgment and supervision order | Court file plus KOOL supervision record |
| Mandatory Reentry Supervision | A statutory supervision period near sentence end under KRS 439.3406 | KOOL status and KDOC record |
| Discharged | The supervision term has ended | KDOC discharge record and, when relevant, the court file |
Verify Kenton County Post-Release Supervision
Start with the authority that created the status. The KCDC roster documents a local booking and its departure, while KOOL is the statewide source for a state sentence or community-supervision placement. A court order explains probation. A VINE alert can report a custody change, but it does not replace those records.
- Search Kentucky Offender Online Lookup with a minimal name, DOC number, or PID number.
- Match the person by identifiers, conviction details, location, and dates rather than relying on the name alone.
- Read the exact supervision label, begin date, end date, and office. Note whether KOOL says parole, probation, Mandatory Reentry Supervision, or absconded.
- Open the parole-history table if parole is claimed. A recommendation or proposed date is not proof that release occurred.
- For probation, compare KOOL with the signed judgment or docket through the Kentucky CourtNet guest search.
- Use the official office shown in KOOL. District 7 is the Kenton-area office, but another district may supervise a person who lives or was assigned elsewhere.
Note: KOOL is updated daily for accuracy, but KDOC warns that information newer than 120 days may not be finalized.
Kenton County District 7 Office
Kenton County belongs to KDOC Probation and Parole District 7 with Boone and Campbell Counties. The Bellevue office is the local public contact when KOOL assigns District 7. It should not be treated as the office for every person whose case began in Kenton County because supervision can follow residence, placement, or an interstate assignment.

When calling, use the name and KDOC identifier from KOOL and ask which office is responsible for public record routing. Staff may be limited in what they can disclose about conditions, victims, health information, or an active investigation.
Kenton County Abscond and Warrant Checks
An Absconded status in KOOL indicates an alleged failure to remain available or compliant under supervision. It is not proof of a new arrest, and it does not establish that the person is inside KCDC. Search the official KCDC roster separately for a new active booking. CourtNet may show a revocation filing or warrant-related docket entry, while the supervising office can identify the correct official channel.
Supervision conditions depend on the judgment, Board action, risk level, and KDOC plan. They can concern reporting, residence, travel, treatment, testing, contact, or payment, but a general public page cannot establish a particular person's full terms. The signed order and supervising agency record control. An alleged violation can lead to an administrative response, court proceeding, warrant, or return to custody. The outcome must be verified rather than inferred from a status label.
When Kenton County Supervision Ends
A supervision end date is a planned term endpoint until KDOC or the court records the actual discharge. It can change after a court order, revocation, credit determination, or other lawful action. KOOL may show the supervision end date while the person is active, but KOOL was not verified as an indefinite archive for every fully discharged record. Request the KDOC record and compare the court judgment when a closed case no longer appears.
Release from KCDC, release from a state institution, and discharge from supervision are three distinct milestones. The first concerns the local booking, the second concerns state institutional custody, and the third ends the community-supervision term. The Kenton County release search and records guide explains how to obtain the local departure record when KOOL supplies only the state supervision side.
Kentucky Parole Decisions and Release
The Kentucky Parole Board holds eligibility hearings weekly, publishes monthly schedules, and updates its PDF calendars each Monday. Published eligibility lists identify the person, DOC number, location, and eligibility month. A hearing may occur before the eligibility month, so the calendar is a planning source rather than a departure record.
KOOL's person-level Parole Information table can show actions such as Parole Recommended, Deferred, or Serve Out. Recommended means the Board supports conditional release, sometimes with a proposed date. Deferred means reconsideration is set later. Serve Out means confinement continues to sentence completion rather than discretionary parole. None alone proves the person crossed an institution's release point. Confirm a later KOOL supervision status, VINE event, institution record, or requested discharge record.
KRS 439.340, KRS 439.3401, and 501 KAR 1:030 govern different parts of eligibility. Offense classification, offense date, sentence aggregation, and special violent-offender provisions matter, so a sentence length cannot safely be converted into a parole date without the controlling record.
Kenton County Structured Release Placements
KCDC's 2025 Annual Report gives important local context for post-release supervision. The Population Coordinator reported facilitating 514 releases to treatment, Home Incarceration Program placements, or other judicial orders. Partners included Mental Health Court, Life Learning Center, NorthKey, Drug Court, Veteran Court Services, and recovery providers.
Those movements show why a Kenton County release can lead to a controlled placement rather than an ordinary discharge. The KCDC Released field establishes departure from that jail. It does not reveal every condition imposed by a court, HIP program, treatment provider, or KDOC. Check the court order and the agency that administers the placement before describing the person as free of supervision.
The annual totals count events, not necessarily unique people. They also should not be merged with parole figures. A treatment or HIP placement can arise from a judicial order without a Parole Board decision, while parole follows the state parole process.
Kenton County Supervision Across Systems
A state-sentenced person housed at KCDC may leave the jail and appear in KOOL at another institution, on parole, on probation, or on Mandatory Reentry Supervision. KCDC proves when that local booking ended. KOOL supplies the next state status. If the person was held under federal or ICE authority, the BOP locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator is the proper next system instead.
VINE is useful for a local or state custody change and notification, but it is supplemental. It does not cover every federal movement, and an alert can be affected by rapid court orders, transfer timing, contact problems, or data lag. In February 2026, KDOC posted a service notice about false VINE alerts. When any alert conflicts with KOOL, KCDC, or a court order, preserve the time and wording and ask the originating agency to reconcile it.
Kenton County Supervision Record Fields
KOOL offers a wide set of search filters, including name and aliases, DOC and PID numbers, supervision status, location, county of supervision, conviction county, offense, institution or supervision begin date, and escape or abscond date. Use only the fields needed to identify the correct record. A broad name search can return several people or several stages of one person's correctional history.
On the detail record, compare current location, supervision status, begin and end dates, conviction details, and parole history. A supervision end date is not the same as a jail release date. A proposed parole date is not the same as a supervision begin date. If a record shows District 7, the Bellevue office is relevant. If it shows another district, the displayed assignment controls even when the conviction or prior jail booking was in Kenton County.
The court file supplies facts KOOL may not settle, including the probation judgment, later modification, revocation filing, and signed disposition. KCDC supplies the local booking episode and release timestamp. When the public record does not show a final discharge, a focused KDOC request should include the DOC or PID number and ask for the supervision begin, end, status, office, and discharge action. Keeping each source in its proper role prevents a planned or intermediate status from being reported as a completed discharge.
