Kenton County Planned vs Actual Release
A planned date answers when release may occur under current data. An actual date answers when an agency recorded departure. KOOL's search form uses Projected Release Date, while a state detail record can show Minimum Expiration of Sentence Date (Good Time Release Date), Expected Time To Serve, Parole Eligibility Date, and Maximum Expiration of Sentence Date. These labels are not interchangeable.
releaseDate, a discharge sheet, or a KDOC status change confirms an event only within that system.A pretrial detainee ordinarily has no computed sentence-release date. Bond, dismissal, recognizance, a later judgment, another case, or a detainer can control departure. Read the signed court order and KCDC record rather than applying a prison formula.
Find a Kenton County Release Date
First determine whether the person is a county detainee, a KDOC state inmate, a federal sentenced prisoner, or an immigration detainee. Being housed at KCDC does not decide which agency computes the sentence.
- Open the official KCDC roster, match the booking, and read active or released status, scheduled field, and actual
releaseDate. - Match the case number in CourtNet or request the signed judgment.
- For a KDOC sentence, search KOOL by name, DOC number, or PID number.
- Record each date label exactly. Do not substitute parole eligibility for projected release.
- If screens conflict, request the KCDC or KDOC record with the booking, DOC number, case number, and date range.
- Use BOP for a federal sentence and ICE ODLS for immigration custody.
Kentucky Good-Time Release Dates
KRS 197.045 governs Kentucky sentence credits, including good-behavior and qualifying program credits and restrictions. Credits can affect the Minimum Expiration of Sentence Date, but use KDOC's calculation rather than subtracting a generic amount from the sentence.
The current KRS 439.3401 contains an 85 percent restriction for covered violent offenders with applicability rules and exceptions. It cannot be applied to every offense or older case without checking the offense date and controlling version. Parole eligibility also depends on KRS 439.340, 501 KAR 1:030, sentence aggregation, and special statutes.
Note: Verify the statute version, offense date, signed judgment, and KDOC calculation for the specific Kentucky sentence.
Why Kenton County Release Dates Change
A projected date reflects the facts and credits known when calculated. A later event can move the date or change the destination without changing the fact that KCDC eventually records a local departure.
| Factor | Possible effect | Best source |
|---|---|---|
| Credit earned or lost | Changes the good-time minimum | KDOC sentence record |
| New court order | Modifies sentence, bond, or custody terms | Signed court file |
| Parole action | Recommends release, defers review, or requires serve out | Parole history and later KOOL status |
| Detainer or warrant | Turns departure into transfer | Holding and receiving agencies |
| Data lag | Makes public systems briefly disagree | Timed agency checks |
| HIP or treatment order | Ends jail confinement but adds structured placement | KCDC record and court order |
Confirm Kenton County Actual Release
For a local booking, look for Released and the populated releaseDate in KCDC. Pair it with the court order because the docket explains legal authority while the jail field documents processing. Posting bond or an order authorizing release can precede departure when another hold remains.
Kentucky VINE can supply a custody status and release date and notify a registered user. The Kenton County VINE inmate check explains how to match one person. VINE is supplemental, so reconcile it with KCDC or KDOC when timing differs.
For a state inmate, use KCDC to establish departure from the local jail and KOOL to find the next location or supervision status. A BOP result can say Released or Not in BOP Custody, but another justice authority or supervised release may follow.
Kenton County HIP Is Not Discharge
Kenton County's Home Incarceration Program can cover pretrial and post-conviction placements. KCDC reported 312 HIP releases and 413 monitored people in 2025, eliminating 19,730 jail days. The program used multiple monitoring levels and judicial terms.
A move into HIP ends physical confinement at KCDC but does not show that a sentence or case ended. The court order and HIP record define restrictions, while the KCDC release date establishes when the jail booking closed. Annual totals are movements or monitored placements, not proof about a named person.
The same distinction applies to treatment and alternative orders. These can explain why jail status changes before a conventional sentence endpoint.
KDOC Administrative Release Timing
KDOC CPP 25.10 defines administrative release dates for state inmates, including some held outside a state institution. The date can move to the first day of the minimum-expiration month or, when that day is a weekend or legal holiday, the prior weekday. Exceptions make this something other than a universal promise.
A detainer changes the event's meaning. KDOC may release the person to the detaining authority rather than the community. KCDC can record departure while another county, state, federal, or immigration agency continues custody.
For a local county sentence not administered as a KDOC sentence, do not borrow CPP 25.10's formula. Obtain the KCDC record, signed judgment, and actual release field.
Kenton County Parole Date Labels
A Parole Eligibility Date marks when consideration may occur. A proposed date after Parole Recommended remains conditional. Monthly Board calendars and weekly hearings identify the review stage but not departure.
A later institution record, KOOL supervision status, VINE event, or discharge record verifies release. Deferred postpones review, while Serve Out continues confinement to sentence completion. These cannot be collapsed into one generic release date.
KOOL Date Fields for Kenton County
KOOL is a statewide corrections and supervision database, not KCDC's booking archive. Its search screen accepts aliases, name, DOC and PID numbers, supervision status, location, county of supervision, age, offense, KRS code, indictment, crime date, conviction date and county, institution or supervision begin date, abscond range, and Projected Release Date From and To. The projected range helps discover records but does not explain which sentence component produced the date.
Open the individual record before drawing a conclusion. It can show the photograph, identifiers, current location, institution start, conviction counts, statute citation, felony class, sentence length, and parole history. The more specific date labels on that screen distinguish good-time minimum, expected time to serve, parole eligibility, and maximum expiration. Copy the full label with the date so another reader can tell whether it predicts eligibility, a credit-adjusted minimum, or final sentence expiration.
KOOL may also show Parole, Probation (Regular), Mandatory Reentry Supervision, another supervision status, or an abscond entry. A supervision begin date is strong evidence that state community supervision started, but it is not necessarily the exact KCDC door time. KDOC says KOOL updates daily to improve accuracy and cautions that information newer than 120 days may not be finalized. A missing fully discharged record should go to KDOC records and the court judgment rather than being treated as proof that no state sentence existed.
Kenton County Date Record Fallback
The official roster retains released entries under a 400-day configuration, but that public window is not a permanent archive. When the booking is older or a field is absent, use the Kenton County Open Records Request route and identify the person, booking number, case number, approximate custody dates, and the exact fields sought. Ask for the booking and release record, actual release date and time, release type, and destination or receiving authority if maintained and releasable.
The jailer records schedule provides a longer record-management context than the online roster, while exemptions and actual availability still apply. Request the signed judicial order separately because the court file follows the judiciary's record process. One record may show when release was authorized and the other when jail processing finished.
Kenton County Mandatory Reentry Dates
KRS 439.3406 creates mandatory reentry supervision for eligible Kentucky inmates, generally during the six months before projected sentence completion. Statutory exceptions and conditions apply. This is a state supervision period, not a discretionary parole decision, and the date should not be described as an unconditional end of the sentence.
KOOL may label the status Mandatory Reentry Supervision and show supervision begin and end dates. Those fields explain why a person is outside a prison yet remains under KDOC authority. They do not necessarily establish the exact time the person left KCDC or a state institution. Confirm the institution or jail departure separately through the originating custody record.
A violation, new order, detainer, or recalculation can also change the path after the projected date was first displayed. Keep the full KOOL label and the date checked. When an exact calculation is disputed, request the KDOC sentence record rather than attempting to rebuild the agency's calculation from a sentence length alone.
